Then I completed the specialization in Endocrinology at the University of Verona Italy in 1985, and the specialization in Nutrition Science at the University of Modena Italy in 1989. I completed my studies with a four years specialization in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy at the Associazione Psicologia Cognitiva at Rome in 1999. I started to work at the Department of Eating and Weight Disorder - Villa Garda Hospital Italy in 1985, and from 1992 I am the head of the department. The department includes 18 inpatients beds and 14 day-care beds for eating disorders patients, and 20 beds for patients with severe obesity, and an outpatient service for eating disorder and obesity. In this department, in collaboration with Professors Christopher Fairburn from Oxford University, I have developed an original inpatient treatment for eating disorder based entirely on the enhanced cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT-E), and adapted CBT-E for adolescents with eating disorders. The effectiveness of both treatment has been evaluated in three cohort study and one randomized control trial. Over the past 20 years, I have published several papers in international peer-reviewed journals (125 included in PubMed), about 100 papers in Italian, 25 books in Italian, and written two book in US on CBT-E for eating disorder, and chapters in four leading books on eating disorders and obesity. I am member of the editorial board of International Journal of Eating Disorders, European Eating Disorder Review, and Eating and Weight Disorders and Journal of Eating Disorders, and editor of the Italian journals Emozioni e Cibo. I review manuscripts for a number of international journals, including Lancet, Obesity Surgery, International Journal of Eating Disorders, International Journal of Obesity, Eating and Weight Disorder, European Eating Disorder Review, Psychiatric Research, Public Health Nutrition, Nutrition Clinical Practice, Journal of Psychosomatic Research, etc. I have established productive local, national and international research collaborations. For example, I am currently working on evaluating the effectiveness of outpatient and inpatient cognitive behaviour therapy (phase 2 trials) for anorexia nervosa with leading international researchers including Professors Christopher Fairburn from Oxford University, and a relapse prevention program based on cognitive dissonance for inpatients with eating disorders with dr. Eric Stice from Texas University. In 2017 I was invited to lead the Committee of the National Institute of Health of Italy to develop the Italian Guidelines for Nutritional Rehabilitation on Eating Disorder Prevention. In addition to my clinical and research-based activities, I have maintained a strong commitment to teaching and supervision. In 1997 I founded the First Certificate of Professional Training in Eating Disorders and Obesity. This one-year master, that it is now at the 19 editions, trains medical doctors, psychologists, and dietitian in cognitive behaviour for eating disorder and obesity. I teach also at the school of psychotherapy (Associazione di Psicoterapia Cognitiva) recognized by Italian Minister to practice the work od psychotherapist, and to the medical specialization of Nutrition Science at Modena University, and at the Master in Nutrition at Bologna University. I am regularly invited to conduct public workshops and seminars for clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, endocrinologists, GPs, surgeons, dieticians and other health professionals on the nature and treatment of obesity and eating disorders both in Italy and in Europe. I supervises the eating disorder inpatient unit of Bergen University Norway, the Eating Disorders Unit of Minneapolis Children Hospital USA, and the Eating Disorder Clinical Service of Dubai, Read more about this author Read less about this author Read more about this author Read less about this author Additional authors: Simona Calugi Riccardo Dalle Grave author Simona Calugi PhD author Simona Calugi author
Review‘This guide will be an invaluable resource for any young person receiving enhanced cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT-E) for eating disorders or considering this treatment. This guide intends to empower and equip a young person on their journey to recovery using a CBT-E approach. The book describes how eating problems develop and are maintained, and consequently how they can be successfully addressed. Taking part in CBT-E can be an effortful process, although the more effort a young person is able to put into therapy the more they are likely to benefit from it. This guide will help a young person to navigate this therapy and aid with challenges they might face along the way. It is also likely to be helpful for clinicians using CBT-E with young people, given its accessibility and deliberate efforts to translate any "jargon" into everyday terms.’Rebecca Murphy, PhD, The Centre for Research on Eating Disorders at Oxford (CREDO), Department of Psychiatry, University of Oxford (UK)‘Most eating disorder books are geared toward adults or parents―this is one of the first to be uniquely tailored for young people themselves. Brimming with relatable real-life examples, QR codes that link to helpful worksheets, and user-friendly descriptions of cutting-edge research, A Young Person’s Guide to Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Eating Disorders puts the patient in the driver’s seat, encouraging them to play an active role in their own recovery. I can’t wait to recommend this fantastic resource to all of my young patients receiving cognitive-behavioral therapy for their eating disorder.’Jennifer J. Thomas, PhD, FAED, Co-Director, Eating Disorders Clinical and Research Program, Massachusetts General Hospital, Associate Professor of Psychology, Department of Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School, President, Academy for Eating Disorders‘This book for young people receiving CBT-E for an eating disorder is an incredibly valuable and engaging resource. It comes longside the young person and has the potential to "turbo charge" therapy by involving them as a fully informed and respected partner in the therapy.’ Tracey Wade, Matthew Flinders Distinguished Professor of Psychology, Flinders Institute for Mental Health and Wellbeing, Flinders University Services for Eating Disorder (Australia)‘Clinical experience in the complex field of eating disorders has a priceless value: "A Young Person’s Guide to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Eating Disorders" makes available to young patients and their therapists a multi-year experience and all the knowledge of the authors about the use of this evidence-based therapy with the aim of empowering young people suffering from an eating disorder to fully benefit of this technique.’Angela Favaro, Full Professor of Psychiatry – Department of Neuroscience, Padua University (Italy)

Thông tin sách: A Young Person’s Guide to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Eating Disorders (Kindle, 280 trang) – Routledge, 2023. Ngôn ngữ: Tiếng Anh.
A Young Person’s Guide to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Eating Disorders is a state-of-the-art guide for young patients struggling with disordered eating based on enhanced cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT-E).
CBT-E is one of the most effective treatments for eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge-eating disorder, which has recently been adapted for adolescents. Written by two experienced clinicians and clinical researchers working daily with teenagers suffering from eating disorders, and their parents, this book offers an effective mix of theory and clinical expertise that will appeal to all readers. The volume starts with a presentation the most current facts on eating disorders. Part 2 then provides young with eating disorders a complete description―accompanied by clinical examples and helpful vignettes on how to implement the main CBT-E procedures.
While this book is specifically tailored for young people aged between 15 and 25 years with eating disorders treated with CBT-E, it will also be useful for all young persons affected by eating disorders, and clinicians using CBT-E with young patients.
