Follow authors to get new release updates, plus improved recommendations. Juan Carlos Cuevas was born in Medina del Campo (Spain) in 1970. He graduated in Physics at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) in 1993 and got his PhD in Physics in the same university in 1999. Then, he worked at the prestigious Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany) for about 7 years, where he led his own research group on Theoretical Aspects of Molecular Electronics. Since 2007 he is an associate professor at UAM (Madrid, Spain) where he continues his research work in different topics of Condensed Matter Physics and Nanoscience. He has published more than 180 papers in the most prestigious scientific journal (like Nature, Science, etc.) and he is the co-author of the book "Molecular Electronics" [J.C. Cuevas and E. Scheer, World Scientific, 2010 & 2017], which has become a classic in the field of Nanoscience. He is also well-known for his teaching activities and he has imparted physics lectures in different countries over the last 25 years. More recently, and together with Daniel Farías, he has published a popular science book (in Spanish) with the goal to disseminate the basic ideas of relativity and quantum mechanics among the general public ["Las ideas que cambiaron el mundo: relatividad, mecánica cuántica y la revolución tecnológica del siglo XX", D. Farías and J.C. Cuevas, 2018 & 2025]. Juan Carlos is also the author of the book "Física Moderna" (in Spanish) that presents an introduction to all the relevant topics in modern physics and it is meant for first-year-college students.
